Plant Family: Rutaceae

Appearance: Lemon essential oil tends to have a  yellow appearance and smells tart and fresh like the fruit. It tends to be uplifting and cooling.

Properties: Anti-anemic, antimicrobial, anti-rheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, cytophylactic, cicatrisant, depurative, diuretic, febrifugal, haemostatic, hypotensive, insecticidal, rubefacient, sudorific, tonic, vermifugal.

Uses: Acne, asthma, arthritis, bronchitis, boils, catarrh, cellulite, colds and flu, high blood pressure, indigestion, poor circulation, rheumatism, skin care (oily), sore throats.

Extraction method: Cold expression of the peel.

Spiritual/Emotional Applications: The fragrance of lemon enables our meditations to be deeper and our prayers to take flight. It helps to clarify everything through uplifting us and helping to improve our focus. Lemon encourages direction, awareness, concentration and liveliness.

Safety Precautions: As with most other expressed citrus oils, lemon oil is phototoxic. Avoid applying to the skin shortly before going out into the sun or into a sunbed as it may cause irritation. Lemon oil has a short shelf life and should be used within 6 months of purchase. Use in low concentrations.
